NEW EDITOR NAMED

Arnold M. Knightly has been named editor of Las Vegas CityLife, the area’s oldest and most independent alternative weekly newspaper.

Knightly, 45, of Henderson, had been the editor of the Boulder City Review since August 2010, nine months after the paper was founded. He helped guide the paper as it developed its voice in the community, which also includes Lake Mead National Recreation Area and Hoover Dam.

“Arnold has done an excellent job in Boulder City, and I believe he will serve CityLife readers with the same commitment to quality journalism,” said Michael Hengel, who, as editor of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, oversees CityLife and the Boulder City Review. Knightly succeeds Scott Dickensheets, who served as editor since February 2011.

Knightly said he is excited to help guide CityLife’s coverage. “I firmly believe CityLife continues to have an important role in journalism in Las Vegas,” Knightly said. “I want to focus on reporting from the alleyways and streets, not from the executive suites and PR firms. I want us to be aware of the fringes.”

CityLife will continue to have a focus on city politics, downtown development and technology, while continuing to highlight music, art and food. CityLife has a weekly distribution of about 50,000 copies throughout Las Vegas.
