Three local music shows you shouldn’t miss

Dee Dee Bridgewater
Dee Dee Bridgewater

Dee Dee Bridgewater with the Las Vegas Academy Jazz Combo

You could crowd seven mantelpieces with all the awards garnered by these two local jazz titans. LVA kick-starts its May residency at Jazz in the Park by backing renowned vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, who records her NPR show JazzSet at our own KUNV. Saturday, May 11, 7 p.m.; Clark County Government Center Amphitheater, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway, 455-8200, free

The Psyatics CD release party

If you’re familiar with Rob Bell’s former outfit, Yeller Bellies, you might raise an eyebrow at his new one, The Psyatics. Only a smidge of foundational overlap exists between the Bellies’ rockabilly twang blues and The Psyatics’ colorful, R&B-kissed garage rock, as evidenced on its energetic new album, Oderint dum Metuant. With The Bitters, Fuzz SoLow and The Tinglerz. Saturday, May 11, 10 p.m.; Double Down Saloon, 4640 Paradise Road, www.doubledownsaloon.com, free

Dusty Sunshine benefit bash

The girls are turning Beauty Bar into a carnival (will all six of them take turns working the kissing booth?) in the hopes of raising enough dough to get them to and from Toronto, where they’ll play at the North by Northeast music conference in June. Also happening: Red Eye Radio shelves the Gen X covers for its original music debut. With A Crowd of Small Adventures and 2 Tenderoni. Saturday, May 11, 8 p.m.; Beauty Bar, 517 Fremont St., www.thebeautybar.com, $6-$10
