In a curious bit on non-marketing, apparently on the part of Life Is Beautiful promoters, but indie music legends Dean & Britta are playing an unbilled show at the Fremont Country Club at 7:45 p.m. tonight. It is part of the Art portion of the festival, and not billed under music.
Dean & Britta will perform their “13 Most Beautiful Songs For Andy Warhol’s Screen Tests,” their 2010 release set against the backdrop of the legendary pop artists film tests.
Dean Wareham was the founder of Galaxie 500 and Luna, and Britta Phillips was also in Luna. The now married couple have released four CDs as Dean & Britta, “13 Most Beautiful..” being their latest.
It is beyond us why their names do not appear on any of the festival literature or the Life Is Beautiful phone app, even in the lengthy description of the 65-minute event.
If you are at the festival Saturday, make your way over to the Fremont Country Club across from the El Cortez. We will be there.
