Smokey Robinson

When Smokey sings, we hear violins. Sweet, sweet violins. The singer, songwriter and producer charted 37 Top-40 hits for Motown from 1960 to 1987. He would be one of the greatest if he had written, say, “The Tracks of My Tears.” But he also wrote “Shop Around,” “Tears of a Clown,” “My Girl,” “The Way you Do the Things You Do” and many, many more. 8:30 p.m., Eastside Cannery, $45-$70.

[PUNK ROCK]

Whiskey is a lot like punk rock. A little bit gets your blood moving. A little more and you’re jumping around like a crazy person, howling at the moon. The People’s Whiskey celebrate their CD release with the Quitters, Surrounded by Thieves and Sounds of Threat. 10 p.m., Double Down Saloon, free.

[ILL SPENT YOUTH]

The Misfits

The Misfits pumped some gritty melody into the second wave of punk while spawning legions of screwed up kids, and we’re fine with that. This is not the classic line-up, but probably as close as we’ll get. And we’re fine with that, too. 9 p.m., Las Vegas Country Saloon, $25.

[EL ROCK]
