EATING YOUR WORDS

[MUSICAL] June 18-Aug.18

Two drag queens and a transgender woman get on a bus.

No, this isn’t a politically incorrect joke. It’s the beginning of a tough yet triumphant journey in which three fun-loving, costume-clad friends share once-in-a-lifetime experiences and learn lessons to match.

When one of the trio lands a performance gig all the way across the Australian desert, he invites his friends along for the ride. The three hop on a rickety old tour bus named Priscilla to embark on an all-out road trip across the Australian outback, where they meet friends (like welcoming Aborigine tribes, which they dance for), enemies (like homophobic gangs that vandalize their bus) and have to face difficult moral decisions (Do I tell my son about my drag gig?).

Already on its ninth month, the touring Broadway show debuted in São Paulo, Brazil, and will park in Las Vegas for a summer residency. Priscilla won Tonys for its 500-plus sparkling costumes and features old-school radio favorites such as “It’s Raining Men,” “Finally,” “I Will Survive,” “Material Girl,” “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “Like a Prayer.”

There’s a reason it’s considered the most successful Australian musical of all time, and it’s not just for the fabulous headdresses. 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, and Wednesday-Monday, through Aug. 18; The Venetian, venetian.com, 414-9000, $74-$173
