[ROCK] Friday, July 5
The founding singer of Jethro Tull owns his prog-rock pedigree like only a rock ‘n’ roll flautist can. Which is to say his songs are considered compositions. And his signature composition remains 1972’s Thick As a Brick, a mock concept album that became a revered concept album. Forty years later, Anderson — sans Jethro Tull this time — dreamt up a sequel to Thick that’s less satirical, but still follows the life of main character Gerald Bostock. Both albums will be played in full by Anderson and his band, with video accompaniment. 7:30; Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center, 361 Symphony Park Ave., www.thesmithcenter.com, $45-$88.
