Black & White Party, Restaurant Week

[CHARITY] Saturday, Aug. 25, and Aug. 27-Sept. 2

Dig deep, people, we’ve entered a time of good events for good causes. It’s the 26th year for the Black & White Party, which began as a modest backyard gathering before becoming one of the city’s top-shelf charity events. Benefitting Aid for AIDS of Nevada, the party will be held at the Hard Rock Hotel’s Nirvana Pool. Channel 8’s Chris Saldana hosts, and a number of restaurants — Mr. Lucky’s Café, P.F. Chang’s, The Cupcakery, Bottles & Burgers, Maggiano’s Little Italy, Outback Steakhouse and Brio Tuscan Grill — will provide food. Entertainers from Vegas: The Show and Absinthe will add to the good time. (9 p.m.-1 a.m.; www.afanlv.org, $35 and $100 — the VIP tix get you into the 7:30 pre-party)

Still hungry to help, and eat? Restaurant Week 2012 kicks off Aug. 27. To assist the hunger charity Three Square Food Bank, numerous restaurants around Vegas (for example, Alize, Andre’s, Bar + Bistro, Border Grill …) will create special menus (… Grape Street, Rao’s, Piero’s …), and when patrons order from them (… Rhythm Kitchen, Sushi Roku, Todd’s Unique Dining …) a donation is made to Three Square. (See www.helpoutdineoutlv.org for an even more complete list of participating restaurants.)

The Venetian and Palazzo are doing their part to help Three Square by hosting a Carnival of Cuisine. Signature restaurants from the two resorts — Bouchon, Carnevino and Valentino among them — will offer tastings and drinkings. Dine and booze for a good cause! (noon-4 p.m., Venetian Ballroom, www.venetian.com, $60-$85)
