Nevada's Big Give wants you to give big. It's a statewide online philanthropy campaign that asks residents (or even generous neighbors) to kick some dough to their favorite cause.
Already today, 3,800 donors have given more than $380,000, and the total grows by the minute. Listed on the site are nonprofits big and small, and individual donations to some organizations are matched by sponsors.
Favorites so far, based on number of donors, are Nevada Society for the Protection for Animals, After-School All-Stars Las Vegas, Foster Kinship, Las Vegas-Clark County Library District and The Animal Foundation, though the list fluctuates. The organization with the most dollars donated is Sierra Nevada College, with $55,000, a large lead over Nevada SPCA's $23,000 in the No. 2 spot. Ninety-seven percent of proceeds go to the donors, with 3 percent being held by the Razoo Foundation, which provides the secure web platform and handles processing.
The fundraising period ends at 11:59 tonight. The minimum donation is $10.
