Well, that didn't take long.

North Las Vegas officials announced today they will close the skate park at the newly opened Craig Ranch Regional Park from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday for graffiti abatement.

“It is truly disappointing to see people treat this facility disrespectfully,” said Interim City Manager Jeff Buchanan in a statement. “My hope is that going forward, we’ll be able to keep the skate park open and graffiti free for all to enjoy. Otherwise, we will have to consider keeping fewer hours to prevent future damages.”

Graffiti is not in the skate bowl but in an nearby bathroom. The vandalism has been a continuing problem since the park opened Oct. 25. The $130 million park includes as 65,000-square-foot skate complex.
