Free HIV tests are pretty accessible throughtout Las Vegas these days, thanks mostly to the Southern Nevada Health District, but free screenings and preventative care are still pretty unusual to find.

A temporary clinic is popping up on the map this weekend, sponsored by an organization not typically associated with medicine. The Downtown Project is taking its next step into community do-gooding by offering free flu shots this Saturday to anyone over the age of 10. The clinic will be held at Coterie, a new clothing store at 515 E. Fremont Street, in a space formerly occupied by a check cashing store. Shots will be available from 1-5 p.m., and people are encouraged to register on Facebook.

The $0 price tag is hard to beat and there will be entertainment by ZDoggMD, a doctor and hip-hop comedian. That should take the edge off your needle phobia.

More flu-shot info from Downtown Project here. Be well.
