The skewer will be in the other hand when Roasting Las Vegas puts the city’s big three food critics — our own Al Mancini, John Curtas and Vegas Seven’s Max Jacobson — at the mercy of some of the chefs they’ve critiqued. Not only does it promise to be cruel, squirmy fun, it benefits the hunger charity Three Square.
Participating chefs include Vic Vegas (Vic’s, Food Network Star), Gary LaMorte (The Mina Group), Stephen Hopcraft (STK), Beni Valasquez (Bar + Bistro), Carla Pelegrino (Bratalian), Theresa Woo (FU) and Todd Harrington (Central).
Will there be fireworks? Who knows, but read CityLife’s review of Vic Vegas’ place (and the headline, which Al didn’t write) to get a sense of what might happen.
Which is cool with at least one of the roastees. “I think it’s only fair that these guys get to say what they think about us and our opinions,” Mancini says, “since they’ve had to endure them all these years. It’s hard to imagine they could say anything nastier than the things we say about each other on a regular basis. But perhaps I’m underestimating the hatred we’ve inspired.”
