For our Aug. 30 Fall Culture Guide, art writer Jenessa Kenway revealed the official unveiling of the long-awaited Neon Museum Visitor Center in downtown Las Vegas. It's happening Oct. 26, and will be commemorated with a Halloween-themed event. She writes:
"... The Vintage Vegas Halloween Party will serve as the grand opening of the Neon Museum La Concha Visitor Center. Fittingly held on Nevada Day, the event marks the first opportunity for the public to enter the official new digs of the Neon Museum. Starting the next day, there will be an expanded schedule of guided tours through the famous Neon Boneyard."
A press release distributed today further explained that schedule. It will include 45-minute tours of the two-acre Boneyard — which houses over 150 old and iconic Las Vegas neon signs — starting at 10 a.m. and ending with a final 4 p.m. appointment Monday through Saturday. Tickets for Nevada residents (as well as students, seniors and veterans) will be $12, with general admission tickets going for $18.
Walk-thrus of the Neon Boneyard are on hold Sept. 1-18, due to construction, and reservations for today and tomorrow are full. Check for updates and advance ticket sale information here.
