A day after Billboard magazine announced additions to the lineup for Las Vegas' LIfe is Beautiful festival in October, the planners revealed one more band to the group: Vampire Weekend joined the roster along with Alabama Shakes, Janelle Monae, Cults, Joey Bada$$, Smith Westerns, Nico Vega, The Dig and Dreamers.
Vampire Weekend's album Modern Vampires of the City debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts in February, a repeat for the indie rock darlings who scored the same success with their sophomore record, Contra, in 2010. Alabama Shakes was nominated for three Grammy awards this year, and has built a considerable fan base for its rootsy rock since inception in 2011.
In addition, LIB announced a slate of "emerging artists" to perform, including Wildcat! Wildcat!, Chancellor Warhol, The Kingston Springs, Children of the Night and Tink.
The lineup announced Tuesday features: The Killers, Kings of Leon, Beck, Imagine Dragons, Pretty Lights, Empire of the Sun, Passion Pit, Jurassic 5, Childish Gambino, Zedd, STS9, Purity Ring, Big Gigantic, Portugal. The Man, Earl Sweatshirt, Danny Brown, Dawes, Andrew McMahon, The Joy Formidable, Charli XCX, Living Colour, Allen Stone, HAIM, Youngblood Hawke, twenty one pilots, ZZ Ward, Poolside, Family of the Year, Robert DeLong, Wallpaper., Five Knives, Capital Cities, Cayucas, Cosmic Suckerpunch, Knocked Up Kids, among others.
